The King and I, written by composer Richard Rogers and dramatist Oscar Hammerstein II, tells the story of British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens and King Monkut of Siam. Anna is hired by the King to teach his many children and help modernize Siam during the early 1860’s. The show includes several musical numbers and a 15-minute Siamese ballet based on Harriett Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The cast is supported by a pit orchestra of high school students and local musicians. This talented group of students has been working on this production since January 3rd. Please consider supporting the local talent in our schools and community by attending this fun and quirky musical performance!
