We have started an Oregon Hawk Shop that will be open year-round. All gear can be customized to your preferences. All teams and clubs are included. The funds from all gear sales goes directly back to the programs by way of rebates for uniforms/equipment from BSN (the gear vendor). This is not an individual team fundraiser or even school fundraiser. This is a service for our families, community members and alumni who want Oregon Hawk gear any time of the year.
Students from Oregon High School’s Open Program, an approved Local Complete Count Committee for the 2020 Census, attended the Census EDU Summit today at Malcolm X College in Chicago. Students heard from Governor JB Pritzker and several panels of guests regarding their project focus this year, the census. They even got to meet Dr. Carmen Ayala, the State Superintendent of Education, who was excited to hear about the OHS Open Program! Several students had a chance to be interviewed by Chicago media regarding their involvement as high school students in this incredibly important project. Be looking for future posts this winter and spring from our students who will be coordinating efforts locally for a complete and fair count this census year.
Congratulations to our three OHS musicians who have made the ILMEA all-state ensembles! Lydia Cermak, junior, has been selected to the all-state band for the second consecutive year after sitting first chair in the district band two years in a row as well. And Austin Ebert, junior, and Whitney Kirk, junior, have been selected to the all-state chorus. These students initially auditioned in October, then performed in the district festival on November 23rd in DeKalb. There are no school size classes in ILMEA, so these three students have earned all-state status amidst every student in the entire state. They will head to Peoria for the festival and concerts on January 30 - February 1.
